There are many reasons I love being a wedding photographer – the excitement surrounding such a big special day, the romance, the creative people working together to make a couple’s dreams come true… Each wedding is unique, each couple special and I enjoy it so much.
Those who know me will also know that I finally bought my own horse last year – a dream I’ve had ever since being a child – I absolutely adore horses!! So when Roelien and PG booked me and told me they were getting married at the Strydom Arabian Stud farm, I had a mini freak-out! What makes this even more special is that the stud is not a wedding venue!! Roelien – who also loves horses and have been riding since forever – and PG simply decided to take a chance, stop at the farm and ask whether they would consider hosting a wedding. And the rest is history!
So the guys shared a cigar in a stable prepared for them, the ceremony took place in a white fenced paddock, the reception was held in the large indoor arena and we even had some regal arabian horses to do photos with! Roelien went and smiling all the while!
This wedding just shows what can be done when some amazing creative people come together – from the lovely flower arrangements in wooden boxes that PG handmade, the scrumptious food and even a bar built specially for the occasion!
And PG and Roelien? The most down-to-earth smiling couple!! I have to also commend PG – out of all the weddings I have attended his was certainly the most memorable and creative speech I have heard!! While comparing your bride to your favourite animal might sound a bit odd – I can promise you that it made for a captivating speech that had everyone in stitches…and left not a dry eye in the house!
It was such an honour to photograph your wedding – you guys are a one-in-a-billion couple – may the rest of your life together be as full of smiles and laughter as your wedding day!
A big thanks to Tarryn for assisting me on they day…
