I have been really lucky in sharing some very special moments with the Johl family, and this wedding was no exception.
It was the first wedding I shot at Oxbow since they completed their new open chapel under the weeping willows, and I’m in love. Its beautiful looking out over the dams with the breeze in your hair and witnessing the coming together of two people in love. There is also something special about watching the bride coming down the long pathway and Lorne was the picture of elegance and beauty as she almost floated to her groom. Wouter looked dashing and smart, beaming as she walked over…
I enjoy the unique touches that make a wedding special and reflect who the couple is – in this case there was the very ingenious beer tap built by Wouter himself and even showing off a shy goldfish or three. The guys were crowding around it so much so that I had to elbow my way in for a photo!
On the day we were also blessed with unusually dark dramatic skies that added to the overall atmosphere and stood in stark contrast to the soft pastel palette Lorne had decided on. The engagement shoot we did a while back (have a look here) definitely paid off and they were both so happy and relaxed and absolutely awesome to photograph…if someone had allowed me I might have kept them out in the veld much longer!!
Thank you so much for making me a part of your day – it was such an honour…it felt almost like deja vu with all the familiar faces and meant so much to me!
