Fairy Dust for Jamie | Pretoria Maternity Photographer

April 4, 2012

Another of my favourite shoots!  Well, technically I should say ‘two’ of my favourite shoots!

Tanya and I had a whole plan…quite an elaborate one I might add.  We unfortunately couldn’t plan the weather! About an hour before our session the clouds started rolling in, and the wind picked up and although we decided to take a chance, we thought it best to go for the straightforward maternity/family shoot!  As I met them we already knew we didn’t have lots of time, but considering we met close to both of us, it was well worth the effort as we got some photos with the dark angry sky in the background.  I remember that Tanya on the day mentioned that it reminded her of her wedding day as it seemed the same dark clouds rolled in then.  About 20 minutes later, when the lightning started we decided to postpone the second half of the session for a day or so later and try again.

In my mind, we were really lucky both times.  Attempt #1 we managed the dark broody sky and on attempt #2 we got the sweet golden light that makes me a very happy photographer!  Lara brought her lovely fairy dress for our second shoot and with her beautiful long hair she really looked the part – she darted around so light on her feet and she looked so pretty.  I remember saying to Dad that I could watch Tanya and Lara sitting together on the blanket, with the light in their hair the whole afternoon – they looked so peaceful and breathtaking.

I hope Lara saved her little brother some fairy dust – his shoot is scheduled for month-end and I am ecstatic!  Looking forward to meeting the addition to the family!  Tanya – I cannot wait – you’ve got such a perfect family!

[…] A couple of weeks ago I posted Tanya and Richard’s maternity shoot.  Lara was flitting about in her fairy dress, we were interrupted by a storm, but all in all it was a great shoot.  See that session here. […]
