I have been super excited to share this wedding for so many reasons.
When Anton and Charline asked me to photograph their wedding in December I was stunned, elated and excited! Not only are they two awesome and fun people, but they were to get married at a vineyard in the Western Cape!! Hello first destination wedding!! So Charline sent me some more information on the gorgeous South Hill and I was instantly in love…not only that, but we got to stay in the very funky Old Mac Daddy trailers across the road – a rare treat in itself! Both of these are situated in the scenic Elgin Valley in the Western Cape – close to Hermanus and Grabouw…and beautiful does not begin to describe the area.
Now let me just give some background – Charline is a French lady…and Anton an Afrikaans boertjie…and the two of them are just made for each other. You only had to listen to more than one heartfelt speech detailing the way Charline stole Anton’s heart and look at the way they just seem to glow when the are together to know that this is true love. Its the kind of love that brings worlds together, bridges language barriers, and makes people fly all the way from France to witness the coming together of two souls.
Charline’s friends from France produced the cutest movie on how Anton and Charline met…complete with costumes…Anton gave a speech in broken French (it sounded much longer before he gave us the English version!), there was not a dry eye in the room as Charline’s father read his specially prepared English speech…and French, Afrikaans and English united on the dance floor afterwards for a party that will long not be forgotten. Oh – and can I just add that the gorgeous little tyke in the pink tie is my little boy *insert proud mom face right here!* !!
Here they are – a special couple and a really special bunch of friends and family… (and this is kind of a big share!)…
