Every now and then all the elements play along and a little bit of magic happens down here on earth…that is how I feel about the pre-matric farewell shoot I had with Zoë.
When Kathleen contacted me to do this shoot she mentioned that her daughter wanted some ‘insane’ photos for her matric farewell session. I spoke to Zoë herself a couple of days later to get an idea of what ‘insane’ would mean exactly…turned out that she was getting dressed at a gorgeous lodge complete with horses, miniature horses and some open space for ‘veld’ photos close by. We clicked instantly and I really looked forward to finally doing this session.
Everything about this afternoon was great – the light, the venue, the beautiful girl and her fairytale dress…the animals even! We started out with a couple of photos in the lodge, then moved to the garden and Zoë (and I!) got to pet the horses. I’ve seen miniature horses often, but never touched them…and this was such a treat – they were so tame and cute! Zoë’s little Jack Russel followed us everywhere too, so we even got some doggy shots!
Beforehand I asked her if there was maybe a chair that we could use to take out to the veld, and I was pleasantly surprised by the elaborate one we took – her dress and the last bit of winter grass looked so perfect with the dark wine red chair. And more or less at that moment the sun dipped down low enough to give us the last bit of magic we needed.
Thank you so much Zoë – this shoot felt like a little bit of heaven! I hope this qualifies as insane enough!
